I just returned from checking out Iron Man 2 a little while ago. Fantastic! Not completely mindblowing like some superhero flicks, but definitely a tasty morsel on the road to The Avengers (2012!!!).
The cast all around does a fantastic job. I didn't find myself thinking that any of the acting was sub-par or forced.
Of particular interest was the movie debut of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson, who has NEVER looked hotter). Though Black Widow is largely unknown to people unfamiliar with comic books, she is another piece of the ever-growing Avengers movie pie (currently it includes the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Nick Fury, and possibly Hawkeye). I think it was most important for her to show that she could play a tough part and she does. I would certainly love to see a separate Black Widow movie in the future.
The special effects and CGI were great. It was especially cool watching Mickey Rourke's arc reactor whips tear apart any and everything. I also kinda like the drones they introduce later in the film (I thought they had a vaguely Ultron-ish appearance).
All in all, Iron Man 2 is excellent popcorn fun and a good movie to see if you've been craving action that doesn't involve a Kraken. For the comic books geeks, there's a few easter eggs in the movie (and a small one after the closing credits). Here's a good site for some eagle-eyed easter eggs. "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!"
